The Hemmerling Gallery of Southern Art is proud to present:
Poetry Slam Champion and Internationally Touring Poet BUDDY WAKEFIELD
He will be joining us at the gallery on Thursday February 6th at 7:30 for a spoken word performance.
Tickets are $10 at the door
Members of Slam New Orleans, the three time national poetry slam titlists, will open and co-host the event with us!
Buddy is a three-time world champion spoken word artist and has been featured on NPR, the BBC, HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, and most recently signed to Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records.
An author of Write Bloody Publishing, Wakefield, who is not concerned with what poetry is or is not, delivers raw, rounded, disarming performances of humor and heart.
In 2004 he won the Individual World Poetry Slam Finals and then successfully defended that title at the International Poetry Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands against the national champions of seven European countries.
In 2005 he won the Individual World Poetry Slam Championship again and has gone on to share the stage with nearly every notable performance poet in the world in hundreds of venues internationally.

Saints Mania is Everywhere!
Even Muffin, Bill Hemmerling’s precious dog, is feeling the spirit of the New Orleans Saints. This original artwork was painted by the late Bill Hemmerling and made into a giclee, then overpainted by Hemmerling apprentice Kallen Siekkinen.
There are only 200 signed, numbered, collectible giclees on watercolor paper selling for $50 (11×14 on 13×16 paper) and $100 (22×17 on 25×20 paper) and only 20 canvas giclees for $625 (22×28 framed on stretcher bars). The canvas giclees have been artist enhanced and signed by Kallen & Muffin.
